Position Title: Billing Authorization Specialist

Salary Range: $17.17 – $20.20 per Hour

We serve individuals 16 and older who are experiencing serve and persistent mental illness, mental illness concerns, and chronic homelessness. On any given day, Guild staff serves nearly 900 individuals in the Twin Cities metro area. Services are mobile, provided in the community when and where needed. By looking at the holistic wellness of each client we serve, we are able to facilitate healing, growth, and new quality of life.
The Authorization Specialist supports the medical billing processes for Guild, to ensure accurate and timely processing and recording of transaction. This member of the Guild Finance Team performs a variety of billing and prior authorization functions for client billing, including verification of eligibility information, obtaining insurances benefits, and ensuring pre-certification, authorization, and referral requirements are met prior to the delivery of services. Monday thru Friday 8:30 to 5:00 – willing to be flexible after training, will accommodate / flex between 7:30 and 6:00.
Part of a three member billing team that includes a Medical Billing Specialist and a Billing Manager. The Medical Billing Team along with the Accounting Team makes up the agency Finance team.

Education and Experiences:
Minimum of two years billing and authorization request experience in a medical office or other healthcare setting.
Six months experience reviewing medical documentation preferred.
Prior health insurance billing experience with Electronic Health Record systems and insurance authorization knowledge preferred.
Ability to understand the relationship and interconnectedness between program and accounting functions to assure accurate and efficient recording of transactions.
Advanced organizational skills including the ability to self-motivate, manage multiple priorities and adhere to deadlines.
Strong accuracy and attention to detail, for financial and client data.
Intermediate problem-solving skills including the ability to research issues and gain additional information in order to resolve issues.
Knowledge of and strong ability to use and learn software for electronic health care billing, such as Microsoft Word, Excel, Credible, and the on-line billing system for Medical Assistance.
Ability to develop and maintain receptive, open, and approachable lines of communications with team members and other staff.
Ability to protect confidentiality of agency, personnel information, and resident data to ensure compliance with HIPAA.
Ability to establish and maintain filing systems to assure organization, accessibility, and responsiveness to requests from staff for information.
Follows all company policies and procedures as well as billing team instructions
Ability to coordinate work with others and act as part of a team to deliver quality services.
Ability to be flexible and adapt to changing conditions in the workplace.
Basic understanding of serious and persistent mental illness, including common diagnoses, and the challenges faced by those who experience symptoms.
